A riddle for you

What was the very first thing Ms. Rayburn noticed about this photo? (You should probably click on it to enlarge.)

P.S. This is from my stepdaughter's high school.

Adjective clauses

Dear Migdalia,

Please come back tomorrow, as these are the kinds of sentences that get written when you aren't there to suggest unicorns and other sweet things as our subjects.

kthanks,
Ms. R.

Reminders

Hey everybody. While I sure am enjoying sleeping in every day, I'm also looking forward to seeing you guys again next week. You probably need to be reminded that:

- You should have completed Chapter 11 of Frankenstein by Monday.

- You need to bring in a pack of multi-colored index cards, as well as a way to store it. I recommend a recipe box, but some of you asked if a ring was okay. Yes, but in my experience, the notecards get squashed that way. It's up to you.

- Bring your dictionaries to class on Monday.

I think that's all for now. Enjoy your weekend!

Book of choice presentations

Juanito made this box himself. I want a lesson.

In my favorite moment of the day, Jill recreates a key moment of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. Look how gleeful she is.

This was before the cigarette box and fake crystal meth emerged from the CPU.

Ashley had some nice symbolism for The Glass Castle.

Adglaedt whips out the first gun of the day.

All told, my class probably broke a school record for most imitation contraband items brought to school in one day: eight fake guns, two plastic knives, two sets of handcuffs, one tiny set of brass knuckles, one (empty) box of cigarettes, one bag of (sugar) crystal meth, and three beer-labeled koozies/cups. Awesome.

On the whole, they looked great, and it seems that a majority of you read your entire book. Congratulations and good job.

I was especially impressed by these two. Nancy captured a lot of good stuff from Eat, Pray, Love, and Adglaedt got her project for A Death in Texas in a day early. Another highlight of the day was watching her stomp her Tiffany's-box-turned-prison-cell into the ground once the presentations were over.
