This one's for the runners
Dear Cross Country Team,
I don't know how you do it. It was such a privilege to be at the district meet today (and to be an official timer - ooh!), but I make the worst XC fan ever.
I did not anticipate what happened to me today, and it started as soon as the little ones were off the line. Each time one of you ran past me, laser-focused, grimacing in agony, pushing through it anyway...well, I cried. I couldn't help it. E-v-e-r-y time. I was filled with pride and awe and fear and overprotectiveness, but mostly awe. I learned something about you guys today, something I feel viscerally but can only barely form into words.
Your perseverance, tenacity, and fortitude (look 'em up) are something to behold. I am honored to see it.

Scenes from a beautiful Saturday school
The Silver Dragons turn the remainder of the water balloons on themselves.
The results of the Rattlesnake family's beautification project:
I have no idea how to spell the name of this game that the Silver Dragons taught the sixth-graders. Wha? Whaw? And I certainly don't know how to spell it the way Eliud said it.
It's never too early to start practicing the pyramid. Kids, remind me not to volunteer to be on the bottom row again. Srsly. Too old for that kind of crazy.
Raquel makes digging in the dirt look good.

Oysters!
The rain couldn't stop us from our food adventure yesterday. I do have some great videos of folks trying their first oysters, but I'll have to upload them later. My connection here is being a bit hinky.
I'm proud of you guys for trying something strange and new. It was the perfect way to kick off a three-day weekend. Enjoy!
